This coarse whetstone keeps your tools sharp and ready for use. At 225 mm in length, it is ideal for scythes and sickles and ensures long-lasting performance in the garden.
When do you choose this product?
What does a whetstone do and when do you need one?
A corundum whetstone is an essential tool for keeping cutting garden tools sharp. You use this stone to restore the cutting edge of your tools and get the cutting edge razor-sharp again. This prevents you from having to exert more force during your work and ensures a cleaner end result.
Why corundum as an abrasive material?
Corundum is known for its hard properties, which allow this whetstone to effectively work metal without itself wearing down quickly. The material sharpens gradually and in a controlled manner, which is important for maintaining the correct angle of your cutting tool. This way you preserve the original shape and functionality of your tools.
Especially suitable for scythe and sickle maintenance
This whetstone is specifically designed for sharpening scythes and sickles - traditional mowing tools that require a special sharpening technique. These curved cutting tools need a different angle than ordinary knives, and this corundum stone is tailored to that. The 225 mm size offers sufficient surface area for these larger tools.
Practical tip for use
Lightly moisten the whetstone before you start sharpening - this prevents the metal from overheating and gives a smoother sharpening result. Move the tool in long, even strokes across the stone and keep the same angle. After use, it is best to store the stone dry and dust-free to extend its service life.
