What does this cable do and when do you need it?

This cable connects a device with a USB-C port directly to a display, monitor or projector via HDMI. That is handy if you want to mirror or extend a laptop, tablet or phone to a larger screen, without needing a separate adapter or docking station. Think of giving presentations, working from home with a second screen, or watching content on a larger display.

When is this specific length the right choice?

With a length of 2.0 metres you have enough room to place your device at a comfortable distance from the screen. That makes the cable suitable for a fixed workstation where the display is not right next to your laptop, or for a meeting room where you don't have to sit right beside the projector.

Important requirement: Alternate Mode

Please note: your USB-C device must support USB-C DP/HDMI Alternate Mode for this cable to work. Not every USB-C port supports this automatically — it depends on the device. So always check the specifications of your laptop, tablet or phone before purchasing the cable. If Alternate Mode is not listed in the specs, the screen will not recognise what is connected.

Practical tip about the construction

The cable has nickel-plated contacts, which ensure a stable connection in the connectors. The casing is made of plastic and the cable is shielded, which helps limit interference when used in an environment with multiple cables or electronics. The connector configuration is USB-C at one end and HDMI-A at the other, so you don't need separate adapters for standard HDMI inputs.
