What does this outdoor timer do?

The ANSMANN Outdoor timer is a garden socket with a built-in mechanical time switch and a ground spike. You push it directly into the ground and connect devices that you want to run automatically at fixed times, such as outdoor lighting, a pond pump or a sprinkler system. The 1.5 m cable gives you some flexibility when positioning it relative to the nearest power socket.

Why this format is useful

This timer has two sockets, so you can connect two devices at the same time and switch them either separately or simultaneously. The mechanical time dial has 48 switching positions, which equates to intervals of 30 minutes per position over a 24-hour period. This lets you set precisely when your devices switch on and off, without an app or Wi-Fi.

Honest about splash resistance

The timer has IP44 protection, which means it is resistant to splashing water from all directions, but not to immersion or prolonged exposure to heavy rain without shelter. The supplied splash-proof connection box offers extra protection at the point where your devices are connected. For installation in a completely unprotected spot, such as the middle of a garden without a canopy, it is wise to keep that in mind.

Practical installation tip

Thanks to the ground spike, you don't need to mount a pole or bracket; you simply push the timer into the ground at the desired spot in your garden. Before use, check that the outdoor socket has an earth connection, as the two sockets are designed as earthed Schuko couplings. The timer is suitable for use in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria.
