What does a communication server do?
A communication server connects serial devices to your network via Ethernet. You need this product when you want to integrate older industrial devices, measuring instruments or other serial devices into your modern network infrastructure. This W&T server makes it possible to access devices that only support RS232, RS422 or RS485 communication via your IP network.
Why choose the 4-port version?
With 4 ports, you can connect multiple serial devices to a single server at the same time. This is more ideal than using several single-port servers, as you need fewer network ports and the configuration remains simpler. The 9-pin Sub-D connectors are the standard for serial communication and fit most industrial devices.
Flexible communication standards
This server supports three different serial protocols: RS232, RS422 and RS485. You can switch between these standards per port, depending on what your connected device requires. With baud rates from 50 to 230,400 baud, you are compatible with both very old and modern serial devices. The 500 V galvanic isolation protects your network against electrical interference from the serial devices.
Practical installation and configuration
The internal power supply operates on 100-230 volts, so you can use the server worldwide without an external power adapter. The supplied Utilities CD contains the software needed to configure and manage the server. The compact metal housing measuring 212 x 168 x 40 mm fits easily into a 19-inch rack or on your desk.
