Block glued on all four sides by Canson, so your paper won't buckle while you paint. The fine grain of 300 g/m² captures both subtle and expressive watercolour techniques perfectly.
When do you choose this product?
When do you need a watercolour block?
A watercolour block is used for watercolour and water-based painting techniques in which the paper is kept wet. The CANSON Montval watercolour block measuring 400×500 mm offers plenty of space for larger artworks and is suitable for both beginners and advanced artists who work with watercolour paint.
Why choose this size?
The 400×500 mm format gives you the freedom to create spacious compositions without being limited by small dimensions. With 12 sheets, you have enough paper to experiment or to create a small series of works. This size is ideal for portraits, landscapes or abstract works that require more detail.
The benefit of 300 g/m² paper weight
The paper weight of 300 g/m² ensures that the paper stays stable when working with water and paint. This weight prevents the paper from curling too much or tearing when you apply wet techniques. The fine grain gives a subtle texture that is suitable for detailed work and soft colour transitions.
Working practically with a gummed block
The block is gummed on all four sides, meaning that all sheets are attached at the edges. This keeps the paper taut while you paint. You work on the top sheet and only remove it after it has dried, by carefully cutting along the edges. This way, each sheet lies flat during your work without needing extra tension or fixing.
