What is this paper for, and when do you need it?

This is coloured multifunctional paper in a light grey shade, intended for everyday use in an office environment. You use it when you want to visually distinguish documents, presentations or internal communications from plain white paper, without having to resort to special printing techniques.

Why this format and this variant?

A4 is the standard size for virtually all office and desktop printers in the Netherlands, so you can use this paper straight away without any adjustments. The light grey colour — referred to as "hellgrau" — is subtle enough for professional documents, yet it still stands out clearly among stacks of white paper. That makes it handy for colour-coding versions, departments or document types.

An honest note on the weight

At 80 g/m², this paper falls into the category of standard office paper. That is sufficient for most everyday printing tasks, but bear in mind that with heavy inkjet printers using a lot of ink, the paper may curl slightly more than heavier paper would. For reports that will be bound or archived, the weight works well; for business cards or durable presentation folders, you would be better off considering a higher grammage.

Practical tip: compatibility and reference number

This paper is expressly suitable for inkjet printers, laser printers and photocopiers alike, so you can use it throughout the organisation regardless of the printer fleet. The pack contains 500 sheets. When reordering, make sure you use the correct reference number: Clairefontaine uses the codes 1788, 1788C and 1788PC for this product interchangeably, depending on the supplier. So check the article number on your previous order to be certain you receive the same light grey shade.
