This is why Dex likes this article
This smooth, extra-white paper is ideal for your manga and ink work, as it holds drawing ink and wash beautifully without bleed-through. Compact A5 format, so you can take it with you wherever you go.
When do you choose this product?
When do you need a special sketchbook?
This Clairefontaine sketchbook is specifically designed for manga and illustration techniques where you work with ink and East Asian drawing and lettering styles. You need this type of paper when making detailed drawings that require sharp lines and precise details, without the ink bleeding through or spreading.
Why A5 format for manga illustrations?
The A5 format of 148 x 210 mm gives you the ideal workspace for manga-style drawings and character studies. This format is large enough to work out details, yet remains handy to take along or use at a desk. You can easily sketch multiple characters or panels per page without it becoming cluttered.
Extra smooth surface for inking
The very smooth 100 g/m² paper ensures that your drawing pen or brush pen glides smoothly across the surface. Thanks to the special coating, your ink stays exactly where you put it, without spreading or bleeding through to the back. This is essential for the sharp lines that characterise manga style.
Practical tip for use
With 50 sheets, you have plenty of space to work out a complete character or story. Always place a sheet of cardboard under your work surface to prevent show-through, even though this paper is bleed-resistant. Test new pens in a corner first to check the ink flow before you start on your final drawing.
