This is why Dex likes this article
This sketchbook from Clairefontaine offers you two textures in one: textured for expressive techniques and smooth for fine details. The acid-free 250 g/m² paper is suitable for both wet and dry techniques, so you can experiment without worry.
When do you choose this product?
When should you choose a sketchbook with two surfaces?
The Clairefontaine PAINT'ON sketchbook gives you the flexibility of two different surfaces in one block. With one side coarsely grained and one side smooth, you can experiment with different techniques without buying multiple blocks. This makes it ideal for artists who want to apply both wet and dry techniques.
Why A3 format for versatile projects?
The A3 format of 297 x 420 mm gives you ample space for extensive drawings and paintings. This format is large enough for detailed work, yet still manageable for use on a desk or drawing table. For both study assignments and artistic experiments, this format offers the right balance between working space and practical handling.
What does 250 g/m² paper weight mean for your work?
The paper weight of 250 g/m² ensures the paper is sturdy enough for both wet and dry techniques. The extra-white, acid-free and pH-neutral paper retains its colour and does not yellow over time. The sized surface prevents paint or ink from soaking too deeply into the paper, giving you more control over your techniques.
Practical tip for optimal use
First test on a small piece which side works best for your specific technique. The coarse side holds more pigment and gives texture, while the smooth side is suitable for fine details and flat areas of colour. Store unused sheets dry and flat to prevent curling.
