With this active extension cable you reach USB devices at a greater distance without signal loss. The double shielding ensures a stable 5 Gbit/s transfer, perfect for external hard drives or webcams at a distance.
When do you choose this product?
What does this product do and when do you need it?
An active USB extension cable solves a common problem: the limited cable length of standard USB connections. Where passive cables lose signal after a few metres, an active extension cable boosts the signal internally so that data transfer remains stable. This is useful when you want to connect a USB device at a distance, for example a webcam, USB hub or external storage device that is too far from your computer.
Why this active extension cable?
This cable is suitable for longer distances thanks to its built-in amplification. You can even extend the connection to a maximum of 50 metres in total by combining multiple UA0177 cables. That makes this cable future-proof if your setup changes later.
Honest about the transfer speed
The cable supports a maximum transfer speed of 5 Gbit/s. That is fast enough for most USB devices, but it is important to know that this is the theoretical maximum speed. With longer connections, and depending on the connected device, the actual speed may be somewhat lower. The double shielding helps limit interference from outside, which benefits stability.
Practical tip for use
The cable has a USB-A plug at one end and a USB-A socket at the other, which is the standard USB-A connection you will find on by far most computers and laptops. Before use, check that your computer supports USB 3.0 or higher to get the most out of the speed. With an older USB 2.0 port the cable will still work, but the maximum speed will then be that of the port.
