What does this fountain pen do and when do you need it?

The Pelikan M 200 Pyrite is a fountain pen with a piston mechanism, which means you draw ink directly from an ink bottle via a built-in piston filling system. This makes it suitable for anyone who writes regularly and prefers refillable ink over disposable cartridges. Whether you make daily notes, write letters or simply enjoy a more pleasant writing feel, a fountain pen like this suits a deliberate writing routine.

Why this particular model and finish?

The M 200 Pyrite stands out with its translucent barrel with a golden shimmer, giving it a recognisable and refined appearance. The pen comes in a gift box, which also makes it an excellent present for a lover of writing. With the gold-plated stainless steel nib and gold-plated decorative elements, this model combines a functional writing instrument with a refined finish.

An honest look at the nib width

The pen has an M nib, which stands for a medium writing point. This is a widely used width that writes pleasantly for most handwriting styles and suits both fluid and more controlled writing styles. Please note that a broader nib lays down more ink than a fine nib, which affects drying time and your choice of paper.

Practical tip: ink and use

Thanks to the ink window, you can always see how much ink is left in the pen, so you won't run dry unexpectedly. The piston mechanism works with standard fountain pen ink from an ink bottle; make sure you use ink suitable for piston-filler fountain pens. Pelikan offers its own ink lines that are directly compatible with this filling system.
