According to the manufacturer, USB 3.2 Gen 2 over copper is limited to short distances, while the optical wires make longer distances possible. If you want to set up a connection between USB-C devices over a greater distance, this type of cable is a logical choice.
Why exactly 5 metres in length?
This cable is 5 metres long. The optical wires are intended to extend the range compared with USB 3.2 Gen 2 over copper; the length itself is therefore not the most important feature. Measure the distance between your devices in advance, so you can be sure that 5 metres is sufficient.
Fast data transfer with power supply
The cable supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 with a bandwidth of up to 10 Gbit/s and can deliver up to 60W (20V/3A) via PowerDelivery 3.0.
