What do compass lead refills do and when do you need them?

Compass lead refills are replacement parts for technical compasses used for drawing circles and arcs. When the original lead of your compass has become blunt or broken, you need new leads to draw sharp, precise lines again. These HB leads are suitable for general drawing work where you want a medium-hard line.

Why the HB grade is the right choice

The HB grade offers an ideal balance between hardness and softness. It gives you lines that are neither too light nor too dark or bold. This makes HB leads versatile for both technical drawing and general geometric constructions. The grade ensures your leads do not wear down too quickly, while still adhering well to paper.

Practical supply with four pieces

This set contains four replacement leads in a convenient pencil case. This gives you enough stock for long-term use, so you do not have to order new leads all the time. The case protects the leads from breakage and keeps them in place, which is important because compass leads can be fragile.

Compatibility with Staedtler compasses

These leads are specifically designed for Staedtler compasses and have reference number 556 E4-HB. Check whether your compass is suitable for this type of replacement lead. Store the pencil case in a dry place and carefully insert the leads into the compass to prevent breakage.
