With these watercolour pencils, you can create beautiful artworks by simply adding water. The sturdy hexagonal shape sits comfortably in the hand, and the 12 colours offer plenty of possibilities for creative projects.
When do you choose this product?
What are watercolour pencils and when do you use them?
Watercolour pencils combine the ease of coloured pencils with the ability to create watercolour effects. You first draw dry with the pencils and then add water with a brush to create soft colour transitions and watercolour effects. This makes them ideal for artistic projects, illustrations and creative work where you want to combine line work with paint effects.
Why choose this hexagonal shape?
The hexagonal shape of these STAEDTLER pencils prevents them from rolling off your drawing table, which is especially handy during longer drawing sessions. The stable grip allows you to draw more precisely and gives you more control over your lines. This is a practical advantage over round pencils that constantly roll away.
What does the 3 mm lead with protective sleeve mean?
These pencils have a 3 mm thick water-soluble lead surrounded by an ABS protective sleeve. This sleeve protects the lead from breaking, which is particularly important because watercolour leads are softer than regular coloured pencil leads. This means you can apply firmer pressure without the tip breaking.
Practical tip for the colour palette
The 12-piece set includes basic colours such as yellow, orange, red, bordeaux red, various shades of blue and green, plus van Dyke brown and black. You can mix these colours with each other by making them wet, which gives you a much wider colour palette than just these 12 shades. Always start with light colours and work towards dark shades for the best mixing results.
