When should you use extra thick coloured pencils?
Jumbo coloured pencils with a 5.3 mm lead are specially developed for young children who are just starting to draw and colour. The thick lead breaks less easily than standard pencils and produces a broad line of colour, so children can colour in large areas more quickly. These pencils are ideal for toddlers, nursery children and children in the lower years of primary school.

Why choose the triangular shape?
The triangular shape of this Faber-Castell coloured pencil ensures that small children's hands automatically hold the pencil in the correct grip. This encourages the development of a good writing posture from an early age. The Soft-Grip Zone offers extra grip and comfort, so the pencil doesn't easily slip out of the hand while drawing.

Watercolour effect for extra creativity
This coloured pencil is water-soluble, which means you can wash out the colour with a wet brush for a watercolour effect. This allows children to experiment with different techniques and create transitions between colours. The blue then takes on a soft, flowing look that is perfect for sky, water or other natural elements in drawings.

Practical details for everyday use
At a length of 175 mm, this pencil is the size of a standard coloured pencil, but with a much thicker lead. The name field on the pencil lets you write the child's name, which is handy for use at school or in childcare. That way, the pencil won't get lost among the other drawing supplies.
