When do you use a mechanical pencil with a 3.15 mm lead?
This mechanical pencil is specially designed for drawing, writing and sketching where you need a thick, soft line. The 3.15 mm lead in hardness grade 6B produces dark, bold strokes that are ideal for artistic work, shading techniques and rough sketches. You choose this size when ordinary pencils or thin mechanical pencils are too light or too precise for your purpose.

Why the hexagonal shape with grip grooves works
The hexagonal barrel prevents the pencil from rolling off your worktable and sits steadily in your hand during long periods of use. The ergonomic grip grooves provide extra grip, which is especially important for this type of work where you often apply more pressure. This shape gives you more control over your lines than round mechanical pencils.

Advantage of the sturdy lead holder
The robust lead holder keeps the thick 3.15 mm lead firmly in place, even during intensive use. This means the lead will not slip or break while you are drawing. You can sharpen the lead individually as needed, so you decide whether you want a pointed or broad tip for different techniques.

Practical tip for replacement leads
For this mechanical pencil you need TK-Minen 9071 replacement leads. Pay close attention to this code when ordering new leads, as the 3.15 mm diameter is less common than standard sizes. Keep a few replacement leads on hand, especially if you use the pencil regularly for artistic work.
