What are these polystyrene balls and what do you use them for?
Polystyrene balls are lightweight spheres that you use as a base for craft and decoration projects. You can paint them, stick things on them or decorate them in other ways, which makes them suitable for a wide range of creative uses at home or at school.

Why this size is the right choice
These balls have a diameter of 50 mm, which is a handy medium size. That makes them large enough to work and decorate with ease, but compact enough for smaller decorations or parts of a larger craft project. Each pack contains 6 pieces, so you can get started on a small series straight away.

Honest about the material
The balls are made of polystyrene, better known as foam or styrofoam. This material is light and dimensionally stable, which means the ball keeps its round shape while you work on it. The smooth surface ensures that paint and glue adhere well. Do bear in mind that polystyrene can be sensitive to certain solvents, such as those in some spray paints or solvent-based glues — preferably use water-based paint or acrylic paint.

Practical tip for storage and use
Store the balls in a dry place, away from direct heat sources, so the material keeps its shape. Because polystyrene is electrostatic, loose fragments can stick to surfaces — preferably work on a sheet of newspaper or a disposable mat. For schools and hobby groups that need larger quantities, it is wise to order several packs at once.
