What does this ink cartridge do?

The HP 304XL is a colour cartridge that supplies your printer with cyan, magenta and yellow ink in a single cartridge. You need this product when the colour ink in your HP printer has run out and you want to keep printing colour photos, images or documents. The XL version contains more ink than a standard cartridge and offers a capacity of approximately 300 pages.

When is the XL version the right choice?

The XL version is worthwhile if you print in colour regularly and don't want to order or fit a new cartridge too often. With a higher page yield than the standard 304 cartridge, you can print for longer before you need to replace the cartridge. This makes the XL version practical for home offices where colour printing is part of everyday work.

An honest note on capacity

The stated capacity of approximately 300 pages is an indication based on standardised test conditions. In practice, the actual number of pages depends on how colourful and detailed your documents are. If you print a lot of photos or graphic-rich files, the cartridge will run out sooner than if you mainly print text with colour accents.

Check compatibility with your printer

Before ordering, it's important to check that your printer model is on the compatibility list. This cartridge works with, among others, the HP DeskJet 3720, 3730 and 3750, the HP ENVY 5030 and 5032, and various Officejet models such as the 3830 and 4650. The cartridge is also known by the older article number N9K07AE, so if you come across that number somewhere, it refers to the same product. Check the printer menu or the label on your current cartridge to make sure you order the right type.
