What is a canvas panel and when do you use it?

A canvas panel is a painting surface made of 100% cotton canvas glued onto acid-free board. This product is ideal if you want to paint with oil paint, acrylic paint, gouache, tempera or alkyd paint, but don't need a stretched canvas. Canvas panels are perfect for studies, exercises or when you want a sturdy, flat surface.

Why choose this size and finish?

These panels are 3 mm thick and have the canvas wrapped over the edges, which provides extra rigidity and a neat finish. The 300 x 400 mm size offers enough room for small to medium-sized works without requiring much storage space. The set contains 5 pieces, so you can start several projects straight away.

Benefits of the universal primer

The panels are treated with a universal primer suitable for various types of paint. This means you can start painting straight away without first applying a primer. The primer ensures that the paint adheres well and prevents oil from the oil paint from soaking into the canvas.

Practical tips for use

Store unused panels in a dry place to prevent warping. The sturdy cardboard backing means you can store these panels upright without damaging them. The acid-free board ensures your artwork won't discolour due to acid migrating from the supporting material.
