What does a sit-stand desk do, and when do you need one?

A sit-stand desk lets you alternate between sitting and standing while you work. This is particularly useful if you spend many hours at your desk and want to be more mindful of prolonged sitting. The kerkmann Move New Base is a concrete example, with a worktop of 1.800 x 800 mm that offers enough space for a monitor, laptop and the rest of your work essentials.

Why this size and this version?

With a width of 1.800 mm, this desk suits anyone using multiple screens or simply needing more workspace than a more compact model provides. The height is electrically adjustable between 740 and 1.200 mm, making the desk usable for a wide range of body heights. The silver T-leg frame gives the whole a sleek look that suits a modern workspace.

An honest note on the memory function

The built-in memory function lets you store one or more height positions, so with a single press of a button you switch to your preferred position. That may sound like a minor detail, but in practice it lowers the threshold for actually changing posture more often. Without a memory function, you have to adjust the height manually every time, which many people end up skipping.

Practical tip: connection and installation

The desk features an integrated power strip with a European plug, so you can connect your devices directly to the desk without separate extension cords. Do keep in mind that the desk is delivered disassembled and will need to be assembled yourself. Set aside sufficient time for this, and make sure you have the right tools to hand before you start.
