What does this cable do and when do you need it?
An HDMI 2.1 cable connects devices such as a TV, monitor, games console or media player to a video source via a single cable for both video and audio. You specifically need an HDMI 2.1 cable when you want to take advantage of the higher picture quality and refresh rates that modern devices support, and the standard HDMI 2.0 cable does not offer sufficient bandwidth for this.

Why is HDMI 2.1 the right choice?
This cable supports a data rate of up to 48 Gbit/s, which is the Ultra High Speed specification of HDMI 2.1. That makes it suitable for use with devices that require these high bandwidths, such as the latest games consoles, graphics cards and 4K or 8K televisions. The cable is 3.0 metres long, which gives you enough room in most living room or desk setups.

What do the construction features mean in practice?
The cable features triple shielding and an aluminium housing, which help reduce interference from external signals. The gold-plated contacts ensure a stable connection in the ports. The nylon braided sheath protects the cable against daily use and gives it extra sturdiness.

Practical tip when connecting
Before purchasing, check that your devices have an HDMI-A port, as this cable has an HDMI-A connector at both ends (type 2.1). Many TVs, monitors and games consoles use this format, but more compact devices such as laptops or cameras sometimes have a smaller HDMI variant. Consult your device's manual if you are unsure which HDMI type applies.
