What does masking tape do and when do you need it?

Masking tape is used to cover surfaces you want to protect during painting or spraying work. This tape from WESTEX, in the 38 mm x 50 m size, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications where you need a wide covering. Think of masking off window frames, trim or other edges before you start painting.

Why this size and this variant?

With a width of 38 mm, you cover wider edges and transitions in a single strip, which saves you some working time compared with narrower variants. The 50-metre roll gives you enough length for larger projects without having to grab a new roll halfway through. Because the tape is thin and flexible, it follows curved or uneven surfaces well.

Honestly about the main features

This tape is heat-resistant up to 150 degrees and UV-resistant (UV90), which makes it suitable for applications where heat or sunlight plays a role, such as painting exterior window frames or working near a heat source. The high water resistance means the tape retains its adhesion even when damp paint or water is nearby. Because it unrolls very easily, you work without much resistance and without the tape tearing easily.

Practical tip for use

The tape is suitable for double masking, meaning you can apply it over a layer of tape already in place for extra protection on critical edges. Remove the tape after painting in good time, before the paint has fully cured, so you are left with a clean paint line without damaging the surface.
