When should you use masking tape with film?

When painting, you want to prevent paint from reaching surfaces you do not want to treat. A combination of masking tape with a film element offers more protection than standard masking tape, because it covers both the edge and the adjoining surface. This makes it suitable for situations where you want to shield larger or delicate surfaces while painting.

Why this format and this variant?

The roll has a width of 550 mm and a length of 25 metres, which means that for larger jobs you will need to replace it less often. The combination of an acrylate adhesive layer and electrostatic film ensures that the tape stays firmly in place without leaving residue on the underlying surface after use. This makes it suitable for both single and double masking.

Thinness as the defining feature

What sets this tape apart is its very thin and flexible construction. As a result, it adheres easily to curved or irregular shapes, and it prevents paint from seeping under the edge. The result is a sharp paint line, which is important if you want crisp colour transitions. The tape also unrolls lightly, so you can work with it without much force.

Practical tip for use

Because the tape is suitable for double masking, you can also apply it in places where you have previously applied a layer of tape. When removing it, pull the tape at an angle of about 45 degrees to keep the paint edge intact. Always check in advance that your substrate is suitable for use with an acrylate adhesive layer, particularly on delicate or freshly painted surfaces.
