Sturdy metal compass with handy push-button adjustment for quick and precise work. The folding leg makes circles up to 350 mm possible, ideal for drawing and technical work.
When do you choose this product?
What does this product do and when do you need it?
A compass is used when you want to draw accurate circles or arcs, for example in technical drawings, maths assignments or architectural sketches. The STAEDTLER NORIX 555 is a metal quick-set compass that you can quickly set to the desired radius thanks to the push-button mechanism and the centre screw for fine adjustment.
Why is this size the right choice?
With a maximum circle diameter of approximately 350 mm, this compass covers a wide range of uses, from small circles on A4 paper to larger drawings on A3. The folding legs also make it possible to comfortably handle larger radii without the drawing being affected or skewed. For use at school, in your drawing case or at a home desk, this size offers sufficient versatility.
A straightforward explanation of the push-button mechanism
The push-button mechanism lets you quickly set the compass to a different radius with one hand, which is handy when you are drawing several circles in succession. The centre screw then gives you precise fine adjustment. Keep in mind that the final accuracy also depends on applying even pressure while drawing the circle.
Practical tip: contents and storage
The compass comes with a pencil lead holder, so you can get started straight away. The case with a fold-over lid and hanging eye makes storage easy in a pen tray or on a hook, and protects the metal points during transport. When buying replacement leads, check that you are using the correct thickness that is compatible with the lead holder supplied with this model.
