The thin construction of the tape is a deliberate choice: the thinner the edge of the masking tape, the less chance paint has of creeping underneath. This results in crisply defined colour transitions. In addition, the tape unrolls very easily, which is handy for larger jobs where you want to work quickly and accurately.
Practical tip: double masking
According to the manufacturer, this tape is suitable for double masking. This means you can stick it over a previously applied piece of tape to create extra width or to extend a covering, without losing adhesion or the clean line.
