When should you choose a 5B pencil?
A 5B pencil is ideal when you want soft, dark lines for drawing or sketching. The 5B grade means the graphite is very soft, so you can easily create deep black strokes and build beautiful shadows. This type of pencil is perfect for artistic work where you need plenty of contrast and expression.

Why choose this hexagonal shape?
The hexagonal design of this BIC Criterium 550 pencil keeps it from rolling off your desk. Thanks to the six flat sides, the pencil rests securely on any surface. This is especially useful during longer drawing sessions or when you regularly need to put your pencil down to review your work.

Practical without an eraser
This pencil has no built-in eraser, so you will need a separate one. For 5B pencils, this is actually an advantage, as the soft graphite requires special erasers that are better suited to removing dark lines than the small erasers usually found on pencils.

Recognisable green finish
The green lacquer makes this BIC pencil easy to spot in your pencil case. Green is traditionally the colour BIC uses for its drawing materials, so you can quickly see that you are working with a dedicated drawing pencil and not an ordinary writing pencil.
