What does this ink cartridge do?

An ink cartridge supplies the ink your printer needs to put text and images onto paper. The magenta cartridge is responsible for the red and pink tones in colour prints and works together with the other colours to form a full colour palette. Without a working magenta cartridge, you will get incomplete or incorrectly coloured prints.

When should you choose the XL version?

The CLI-581XL has a capacity of 8.3 ml, making it the high capacity version of the CLI-581 range. This size is a sensible choice if you print regularly or make large quantities of colour prints, as you will need to replace the cartridge less often. By changing it less frequently, you save time and reduce the risk of interruptions during a print job.

An honest note about ink capacity

At 8.3 ml, this cartridge offers more ink than the standard CLI-581 version, but the exact number of pages you get depends greatly on what you print. Photos and images use considerably more magenta ink than text with small colour accents. Take this into account when estimating how often you will need to replace it.

Compatibility: check your printer model

This cartridge is specifically designed for a fixed range of Canon Pixma printers. It fits the Pixma TS series models 6100, 8100 and 9100, and the Pixma TR series models 7500 and 8500. Check the model number of your printer carefully before ordering, as the CLI-581XL works only in these models. The reference number of this cartridge is 2050C001, which you can use to verify your purchase.
