When should you use this special sketch pad?
The CANSON Figueras sketch pad has been specially developed for oil paint and oily pastel techniques. The linen texture imitates the surface of a real linen canvas, giving you the authentic experience of painting on canvas but on paper. This makes it ideal for practice, sketches, or whenever you want the benefits of canvas without the preparation and cost.

Why A4 format with 10 sheets?
The A4 format offers enough room for detailed work without becoming unwieldy. With 10 sheets, you get a practical amount to try out different techniques or create a small series of works. The pad is glued along the short edge, which provides stability while you work and makes it easy to tear off finished pieces.

The secret lies in the paper weight and texture
At 290 g/m², this paper is sturdy enough to handle the heavy texture of oil paint and oily pastels without tearing or warping. The linen texture not only gives an authentic appearance but also helps the paint grip the surface. The paper is acid-free and archival, which means your artworks will retain their colour and quality over time.

Practical tip for optimal use
The pad features a bleed-through protection that prevents paint or pastel from seeping through to the sheets underneath. This is especially important with oil paint, which can be naturally translucent. Make sure you use brushes and materials suitable for the linen texture to get the best results.
