When do you need specialised pastel paper?
This Canson Mi-Teintes drawing paper is designed for artists who work with pastel and chalk. The special paper texture ensures that these dry drawing techniques adhere optimally to the paper. You choose this paper when you want to create realistic drawings in which the texture of the paper contributes to the final result.

Why this size and composition?
The 240×320 mm format offers sufficient space for detailed works without being too large for experimental sketches. With 20 sheets divided across 4 different colours, you get 5 sheets per colour. The earthy tones of pastel yellow, antique, grey-brown and ivory form a harmonious basis for natural subjects and portraits.

Double-sided paper texture for different effects
What makes this paper special is its two-sided texture: one side has a honeycomb structure for coarse effects, the other side a fine grain for subtle details. This gives you the flexibility to create different textures within a single drawing. The paper weight of 160 g/m² is sturdy enough to carry multiple layers of pastel without tearing.

Practical tip for use
The sheets are glued together along the short edge in a block, so you can easily tear off one sheet at a time. Always test first which side of the paper gives you the best result for your specific technique. Store unused sheets dry and flat to prevent curling.
