When do you need special drawing and pastel paper?
This Canson Mi-Teintes drawing paper has been specially developed for pastel and chalk techniques. You need this type of paper when working with dry drawing materials that require grip and texture to bond well to the paper surface.

Why a pad with different shades of white?
This pad contains four different shades of white, each giving your artwork subtly different effects. With cloud white, white, pastel cream and ivory, you have variation in warmth and intensity of your background. The pad format with glue binding along the short side keeps your paper stable while you draw.

The advantage of a double paper texture
Each sheet has two different surfaces: one side with a grainy texture and one side with a finer grain. The grainy texture provides more grip for intensive pastel layers, while the fine grain is suitable for detailed work and soft transitions. You can choose per drawing which texture best suits your technique.

Practical compatibility with drawing materials
The paper weight of 160 grams per square metre is sturdy enough for pastels and chalk without the paper bending or tearing. This weight also prevents material from seeping through the paper to the sheets underneath in your pad.
