What is this sketch pad and when do you need it?
The Canson Mi-Teintes Block has been specially developed for pastel drawings and chalk work. Use this sketch pad when you work with dry drawing media such as soft pastels, oil pastels or drawing chalk, and need a paper that holds the pigments well and supports blending techniques.

Why this block version with white tones?
This block contains 20 sheets divided across 4 neutral white tones: cloud white, white, pastel cream and ivory. This variation allows you to try out different backgrounds within a single project, or to deliberately choose a warmer or cooler undertone that suits your composition. The gummed short edge makes it easy to use the sheets one by one.

The advantage of the dual paper texture
Each sheet has two different surfaces: one side with a honeycomb texture and one side with a fine grain. The honeycomb texture holds more pastel pigment and is ideal for dark, intense colours and broad areas. Use the finely grained side for details, light tints and subtle transitions where you want more control.

Practical tip for optimal use
Before starting on your final work, test both sides of the paper to discover which texture best suits your techniques. The paper weight of 160 grams per square metre is sturdy enough for multiple layers of pastel pigment without the paper bowing or tearing during intensive working.
