What does this ink cartridge do and when do you need it?

The HP No. 302 black HC is an ink cartridge for black-and-white text and is designed for use in a wide range of HP inkjet printers. You need it when your cartridge is empty and you simply want to carry on printing documents, emails or other text-based files.

Is this the right version for your printer?

This cartridge is compatible with an extensive range of HP printers from the DeskJet, ENVY and OfficeJet lines. Think of models such as the DeskJet 2630, the ENVY 5032 and the OfficeJet 4650, but the full list is long. Always check the exact model number of your printer before ordering, as not every HP printer accepts the 302 series.

What does a capacity of around 300 pages mean in practice?

The designation "HC" stands for high capacity, meaning this cartridge contains more ink than the standard 302 version. With a stated capacity of around 300 pages, it is suitable for users who print regularly and don't want to buy a new cartridge every time. Please bear in mind that the page yield is based on standard test criteria and may vary in practice depending on the coverage per page.

Practical tip: article number and successor

The current article number of this cartridge is B7RT9AE. The older article number F6U68AE refers to the same product, so if your printer or an old receipt shows that number, you've found the right one. If in doubt, also check whether your printer supports the 302XL designation, as that is the commercial name under which HP markets this cartridge.
