What does a lever arch file do, and when do you need one?

A lever arch file is designed to keep loose, punched documents together without the need for a ring binder. You use it when you want to set up a temporary or ongoing file, for example for a project, a client or an administrative period. The built-in lever mechanism holds the papers firmly in place and still makes it easy to add or remove documents.

Why this format is the right choice

This lever arch file is suitable for standard A4 documents, with dimensions of 240 x 320 mm. That makes it immediately usable for most office and home office papers such as invoices, correspondence, reports and contracts. Because it is a standalone lever arch file and not a folder, it takes up less space than a ring binder while still holding a substantial amount of paper.

An honest look at capacity and material

The lever arch file is made of coated Colorspan board weighing 355 g/m², which gives a sturdy construction that keeps its shape even when well filled. The lever mechanism accommodates up to 350 sheets, so you can use this version for larger files without immediately needing several folders. Please note that the capacity applies to standard 80 g/m² paper; thicker documents or tab dividers reduce the number of sheets you can fit.

Practical tip for use and storage

The tobacco-brown colour makes it easy to colour-code lever arch files by category or department. Store the filled lever arch file upright in a filing cabinet or on a shelf, so the lever mechanism is not under strain and documents stay flat. Write or stick a label on the front for quick identification in a larger archive.
