What is masking tape used for, and when do you need it?

Masking tape is used to protect surfaces during painting or renovation work. The WESTEX STRONG Washi masking tape in red is intended for situations where ordinary masking tape falls short, such as longer projects, outdoor work or surfaces that are slightly damp.

Why this size is the right choice

With a width of 38 mm and a length of 50 metres per roll, this tape is suitable for masking wider edges, window frames or floors. The long roll length means you are less likely to run out of tape on larger projects and need to change rolls less often.

Honest about the most important feature: strength and weather resistance

This is a fibre-reinforced washi tape, which means it combines tear resistance with flexibility. Its high wet resistance makes it suitable for use on slightly damp surfaces, something that can cause problems with standard masking tape. The UV resistance is certified at UV60, which indicates that the tape withstands sunlight for a certain period without leaving adhesive residue on the surface. Because the tape unrolls very easily, it works well for double masking, where you apply several layers on top of each other.

Practical tip for use

The red colour makes the tape easy to see on light surfaces, which is useful if you want to check quickly what you have masked off. Washi tape can usually be removed neatly and cleanly from the surface after use. Always check that your surface is only slightly damp: this tape is not intended for submerged or soaked surfaces.
