What does a lever arch file do, and when do you need one?

A lever arch file is the ideal solution when you want to bundle loose documents quickly without punching them or placing them in a ring binder. You slide the papers under the metal clip mechanism and they are instantly kept together in order. This is handy for project files, quotations, meeting documents or anything you want to keep together temporarily or permanently.

Why this A4 format in polypropylene?

These lever arch files are made of polypropylene, a plastic that is sturdier and more moisture-resistant than cardboard. That makes them suitable for documents you handle or take with you more often. The transparent front cover is a practical detail: you can see at a glance what is inside the file without opening it.

Capacity and colour coding in practice

The clip mechanism has a width of 80 mm and the file holds up to 100 sheets. With 25 pieces in five assorted colours — blue, yellow, green, red and white — you can apply a colour-coding system straight away. For example, you can assign a fixed colour to each project, department or subject, which considerably speeds up finding documents. Each file is fitted with a label strip on the spine, so you can quickly locate the right file even without a colour code.

Practical tip for use

When filing, check whether your documents have standard A4 punch holes (two holes spaced 80 mm apart), as the mechanism is designed for that. Do you have documents without punch holes? Then a hole punch is the recommended addition. Store the files upright in a drawer unit or on a shelf to keep the contents neat and accessible.
