What is a rollerball pen and when do you need one?

A rollerball pen combines the smooth writing experience of a fountain pen with the convenience of an ordinary pen. You choose a rollerball when you write a lot and want an even, quick-drying result — think of notes, handwritten memos or filling in documents where your handwriting needs to look good.

Why this format is the right choice

The Free Ink Fine has a writing width of 0.4 mm and a conical tip. That makes it suitable for anyone who wants to write finely and precisely, for example in diaries with narrow lines or on forms with little writing space. The grass-green ink gives a striking, easy-to-read colour that is handy for colour-coding notes or planners.

An honest look at the ink flow

Faber-Castell describes the ink flow of this pen as constant, which means you don't have to expect varying line thickness or interruptions while writing. Through the transparent window in the pen you can keep an eye on the ink level, so you won't run out unexpectedly during an important meeting or work session. That is a practical advantage if you use the pen every day.

Sustainability as a conscious choice

The plastic parts of this rollerball pen are made for 83% from recycled plastic. If you think carefully about where your office supplies come from, this is a relevant feature to take into account in your choice. It is not a premium positioning, but a measurable fact that Faber-Castell communicates transparently. The light grey body combines neutrally with the grass-green ink and also makes the pen visually recognisable in a pen holder.
