When do you need a stretcher frame?
A stretcher frame is essential for artists who want to paint on canvas. This 40×40 cm size gives you a square working surface that is ideal for portraits, still lifes or abstract compositions where you want to emphasise symmetry and balance.

Why choose this 40×40 cm size?
The square 40×40 cm format gives you enough room for detailed work without becoming overwhelming. You can work comfortably at a table or standing at an easel, and the canvas is large enough for expressive painting yet compact enough for easy storage.

The benefit of 4-times primed cotton
This canvas is primed four times with a slightly absorbent ground layer that soaks up excess oil and moisture. As a result, your paint adheres better and colours are less likely to bleed. The 100% cotton at 400 g/m² provides a firm surface that won't sag while you paint.

Suitable for different painting techniques
You can work on this stretcher frame with oil paint, acrylic paint and gouache. The primed ground layer ensures that all three of these paint types adhere well. Do note that with oil paint you should wait a little longer before applying the next layer, whereas acrylic and gouache dry more quickly.
