When do you need a 5B pencil?
Use a 5B pencil when you want to create dark, soft lines. This degree of hardness is ideal for shading, artistic drawings and whenever you want to lay down a lot of graphite on paper. Choose 5B when you are working on creative projects where depth and contrast are important.

Why choose this hexagonal shape?
The hexagonal profile of this Faber-Castell pencil keeps it from rolling off your drawing table. This shape sits steadily in your hand and gives you more control while drawing. The hexagonal shape is especially practical during extended use, as your fingers naturally fall into the flat sides.

What does the special bonding mean?
This pencil has a special bonding technique that protects the graphite core from breaking. This break-resistant construction ensures the core stays intact, even under heavier pressure or if you drop the pencil. As a result, you are less troubled by breaking tips while you work.

Note the green water-based lacquer finish
The green lacquer on this pencil is applied using water-based lacquer technology. This finish gives the pencil its recognisable look and protects the wood from moisture. The approximately 2 mm thick core provides enough graphite for extensive use without constantly having to sharpen.
