When should you choose a 6B pencil?
A 6B pencil is what you reach for when you want very soft, dark lines for drawing, sketching or artistic work. This degree of hardness is ideal for shadows, dark accents and expressive drawings where you want to lay down a lot of graphite on the paper. For everyday writing 6B is too soft, but for creative purposes it offers unique possibilities.

Why choose the Mars Lumograph variant?
This specific STAEDTLER model has a 2.0 mm thick graphite lead, which is thicker than standard pencils. The hexagonal shape keeps the pencil from rolling off your drawing table and gives you more grip during use. The blue lacquer coating makes the pencil easy to spot among other drawing materials.

Extra break resistance thanks to special bonding
The main advantage of this pencil is the core bonding, which makes the soft 6B graphite extra break-resistant. Soft pencil leads are normally prone to breaking, but this special bonding technique lets you work with pressure without the tip constantly snapping off. This saves time and frustration while drawing.

Practical tip for optimal use
Use a quality sharpener suitable for the 2.0 mm lead, or a knife for a very sharp point. Store the pencil horizontally to protect the lead. For the best results, work on paper with some texture so the soft graphite adheres well and you get the full potential of the 6B hardness.
