When do you need an extra hard pencil?
The Mars Lumograph pencil with hardness grade 8H has been specially developed for precision work where you need to draw very thin, light lines. You use this type of pencil for technical drawing, architectural sketches, or when you need to make very accurate markings that can later be rubbed out without leaving marks behind.

Why choose hardness grade 8H?
The 8H hardness grade is one of the hardest pencils available and leaves virtually no graphite deposit on paper. This makes it ideal for preparatory work, drawing guidelines, or situations where you later work over your lines with other materials. The lines are so light that they are barely visible, yet still noticeable as a guide to the touch.

Extra strong lead construction
This STAEDTLER pencil has a 2.0 mm thick lead that is extra break-resistant thanks to a special hard bonding. This construction ensures the hard lead is less likely to break during use, which is essential given the light pressure you need to apply with 8H pencils.

Practical features for professional use
The hexagonal shape prevents rolling and provides a stable grip during precision work. The blue lacquer finish makes the pencil easy to recognise among other drawing materials. Thanks to the hard lead, the tip stays sharp for longer, so you need to sharpen less often during extended drawing work.
