When do you need a 3B pencil?
A 3B pencil is ideal for drawing, sketching and designing where you want to create soft, dark lines. The 3B grade means the graphite is relatively soft, so you can easily build up deep shadows and create smooth transitions. This pencil is mainly used for artistic purposes, not for standard writing.

Why choose the hexagonal shape?
The hexagonal shape of this STAEDTLER pencil ensures it won't roll off your desk or drawing table. This is practical while you work, as your pencil always stays within reach. Moreover, a hexagonal pencil sits more comfortably in the hand than a round one, especially during prolonged use.

Extra strong lead thanks to special bonding
This pencil has a heart-bonded lead of 2.0 mm thickness, making it particularly break-resistant. The special bonding technique ensures the graphite core is firmly connected to the wood, so the tip is less likely to snap during intensive use. This is especially important with softer graphite grades such as 3B, which are naturally more prone to breakage.

Recognisable blue lacquer for professional use
The blue lacquer coating is the recognisable feature of STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph pencils. This range is known for its consistent quality and reliability. The lacquer not only protects the wood, but also makes the pencil easy to spot among other drawing materials in your pencil case or at your workspace.
