What does this coloured pencil do?
The Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencil has been specially developed for artists who want to achieve professional results. This pencil uses an oil pastel lead that delivers intense colours and a smooth application. You choose this type of pencil when working on drawings or illustrations where colour depth and precision are important.

Why ultramarine blue in this version?
Ultramarine blue is a classic artist's colour that is indispensable for portraits, landscapes and mixed techniques. This specific shade (colour code 120) allows you to create both deep shadows and vibrant accents. The oil pastel lead ensures the colour builds up well and can be blended with other shades.

Reliable properties for intensive use
The 3.8 mm thick lead is break-resistant, meaning it withstands breaking during use. The pencil is also smudge-proof and waterproof, so your work will not run or fade. These properties make the pencil suitable for techniques where you apply multiple layers or work out details without earlier lines disappearing.

Practical tip for optimal use
Thanks to its round shape, this 176 mm long pencil sits comfortably in your hand during long drawing sessions. Store the pencil horizontally to protect the lead, and use a good pencil sharpener suitable for oil pastel coloured pencils. The weather-resistant properties also make this pencil suitable for outdoor drawing, where your work may be exposed to moisture.
