For which drawing applications do you use this colouring pencil?
This Faber-Castell Polychromos colouring pencil has been specially developed for artists who work with professional drawing techniques. You use this type of oil-based pencil when you want to apply intense colours that are resistant to fading and water. The round shape ensures a natural grip during long drawing sessions.

Why choose the 3.8 mm core diameter?
The 3.8 mm oil pastel core gives you the perfect balance between precision and colour intensity. This core diameter is ideal when you want to create both fine details and broader areas of colour without constantly having to switch materials. The core is break-resistant, so you experience less trouble from broken points during your work.

What do lightfast and waterproof mean?
This colouring pencil is lightfast and waterproof, which means your colours will not fade or bleed when they come into contact with moisture. This property makes the pencil suitable for mixed media techniques in which you combine different materials. You can also work over it with other media without disturbing the underlying colour.

Practical tip for use
At a length of 176 mm, this pencil sits comfortably in the hand during longer drawing sessions. Colour code 187 stands for burnt ochre, a warm earth tone that you often use as a base colour for skin tones or natural elements. Store the pencil horizontally to keep the oil pastel core in optimal condition.
